Environmental Impact Assessed London Clubhouse
Richmond Park Clubhouse
The milestone of Practical Completion marked the end of a challenging construction period, characterised by planning difficulties and adverse weather conditions. Parkwood Project Management (PPM) provided comprehensive project management services for Glendale Golf, guiding the project from conception to completion.
Project Management and Execution
PPM’s role encompassed a wide range of responsibilities, including:
- Facilitating architect interviews and concept development
- Developing detailed design plans
- Implementing and administering construction contracts
- Monitoring construction progress and budget adherence
- Liaising with project stakeholders
- Certifying the completion of the project
Facility Features
The new clubhouse, strategically located on the opposite side of the park from the old, dilapidated facility, offers a variety of modern amenities:
- Large open-plan spaces for reception, café, restaurant, and shop
- Meeting room and offices
- Fully equipped kitchen
- Changing rooms
- External terrace with views over the new pond and reconfigured golf course
Architectural Design and Environmental Considerations
Designed by William Saunders Architects, the clubhouse seamlessly blends into the natural surroundings of The Royal Park. Key features include:
- An acid grass roof that enhances the building’s integration with the landscape
- Carefully selected cladding materials
- A large glazed façade providing stunning views of the golf courses
In addition to its aesthetic appeal, the clubhouse is environmentally conscious. The new pond features a water source heat pump, which meets the heating demands of the facility, underscoring the project’s commitment to sustainability.
The new Richmond Park Golf Clubhouse stands as a testament to effective project management and sustainable design. Despite the challenges faced during construction, the facility now offers a range of high-quality amenities while blending harmoniously with its natural surroundings. PPM’s expertise ensured that the project was completed to the highest standards, providing Glendale Golf with a state-of-the-art clubhouse that meets both functional and environmental needs.
